At a musical evening in Banani, Kolkata’s renowned singer Sumana Chatterjee captivated the audience by performing Nazrul Sangeet along with other timeless popular songs. The nearly two-and-a-half-hour program featured more than 25 songs.

Currently visiting Bangladesh to participate in the Nazrul Sangeet Festival 2026 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Sumana Chatterjee also performed at a special musical evening organized by Artist Club at their Banani lounge on Thursday (July 30).

The event began with Kazi Nazrul Islam’s immortal song “Bhoriya Poran Shunithechi Gaan”, setting an emotional tone for the evening. Alongside Nazrul Sangeet, she performed popular songs of legendary artists such as Arati Mukhopadhyay, Nirmala Mishra, Asha Bhosle, and Lata Mangeshkar.

Her own original songs were another highlight of the evening. She presented four of her originals — “Keno Chhute Chai Bare Bare”, “Miss Korchhi”, “Sayon”, and “Bola Mushkil” — all of which received warm appreciation from the audience.

Among the notable songs performed were “Jeno Akashke Bolo Na Kokhono”, “Emon Ekti Jhinuk”, “Madhobi Madhupay Holo Mitali”, “Jete Dao Amay”, “Amar Onge Jole Rongmoshal”, “O Shyam Jokhon Tokhon”, “Prothome Shokal Sheshe Shondha”, “Brishti Brishti Brishti”, “Tomar Songe Dekha Na Hole”, “Lolita Go”, “E Shudhu Ganer Din”, “O Tota Pakhire”, “Ami To Tomar Chirodiner”, “O Majhire O Maji”, “Tomar Tane Sara Belar Gane”, “Dekhechho Ki Take”, “Moner Hodish”, “De Re Na Na”, and “Ei Banglar Matite”. Each performance was met with applause and admiration from the audience.

In the closing segment, Artist Club honored Sumana Chatterjee with flowers, a crest, and a souvenir. Present at the event were Artist Club President Sujit Mustafa, Dhaka University Cultural Foundation (DUCF) President Mahfuzar Rahman, Artist Club Advisor Mostafizur Rahman, along with leaders of Artist Club and DUCF. Distinguished cultural activists, artists, media professionals, and invited guests also attended.
