WhatsApp Testing ‘Private View Counts’ for Channels

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature called Private View Counts, designed to give channel administrators clearer insights into audience engagement.

  • Feature Details: Each post in a channel will display a view counter beneath it, showing how many followers have seen the post. This data will be visible only to the channel admins, not to other subscribers.
  • Beta Testing: The feature is currently being tested on both Android and iOS beta versions.
  • Benefits: Admins and content creators will be able to analyze which posts attract the most attention, helping them plan future content more effectively while maintaining user privacy.
  • Current Limitation: At present, there is no reliable way to measure how many people view a channel post—forward counts offer only partial insight. The new system aims to eliminate this gap.
  • Future Plans: WhatsApp also intends to roll out Public View Counts, allowing all subscribers to see post view numbers. This feature is still under development.
