Chattogram, August 5: A discussion meeting was held at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) on the occasion of July Mass Uprising Day. Speaking at the university auditorium, BNP National Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized the need to fully restore democracy in Bangladesh.

According to a press release issued by CVASU on Tuesday, Amir Khosru said that BNP is working with the vision of building a democratic Bangladesh. He remarked, “Fascist Sheikh Hasina destroyed democracy and established one-man rule. To reintroduce democracy, we must change our mindset, reform political culture, respect differing opinions, and bring major changes to democratic practices.”

He further stressed that sectors such as veterinary science, education, health, and ICT must be upgraded to international standards through collective effort, which he described as the goal of a “new Bangladesh.”

Addressing students, CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman said, “Students are the future of the country. If they fail, Bangladesh will fail. The responsibility of repairing the state and building a better future for the next generation lies with the students.”

The discussion meeting was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Lutfur Rahman. Special guests included Chattogram Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Omar Faruk Yusuf, CVASU Director of External Affairs Professor Dr. A.K.M. Saifuddin, and CVASU Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, who delivered the welcome speech.

Popular singer Kajol Arif’s career and other cultural references were also highlighted in the broader program, underscoring the role of education and culture in shaping the nation’s democratic future.
